EFFSAA held its General Assembly

Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) held its General Assembly on Tuesday 8th of December, 2020 at Hyatt Regency Hotel. Various programs have been carried out at the session and the Association also signed Memorandum of Understanding with Ethiopian Customs Commission.

On his speech, H.E Commissioner Debele Kabeta highly emphasized the importance of Association’s inputs in the various documents submitted to the commission. He also acknowledged EFFSAA for its meaningful contribution.

The initiative to sign MoU originally came from EFFSAA and I believe the agreement will further strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions” said Ato Debele.

The Board Chairperson of the Association, Elizabeth Getahun, on her part said that the association has offered its professional inputs in various regulations and directives drafted by the Customs Commission and raised the recently implemented electronic customs service as an example. The president appreciated the swift action taken by the commission when EFFSAA submitted a proposal on paperless customs service. “We will strive for the betterment of Ethiopia’s logistics sector by working together.” said W/ro Elizabeth.

Prior to the completion of the session, a recognition ceremony was held for individuals and institutions who have made significant contributions to the development of the association. In addition, Ato Ahmed Yassin, the former General Manager of Maritime and Transit Services Enterprise, who was contributed significantly in the formation of the association, became the first honorary member of the association.
